In honor of Guru Purṇima, Tripurā Tallikā is pleased to publish our latest contribution to the international Śrīvidyā community: The Saubhāgyahṛdayastotra by Śivānanda (alias Śivānandamuni).
The Saubhāgyahṛdayastotra is one of the earliest devotional hymns to the goddess Tripurasundarī from the Śrīvidyā tradition. Composed by South India’s foundational Śrīvidyā commentator, Śivānanda (fl. c. 1225-1275), this rare hymn praises the goddess Tripurasundarī in fourteen verses that identify her with the highest principles of reality, as well as permeating the entirety of creation with radiant bliss. Filled with foundational Śaiva doctrine, esoteric kuṇḍalinī practices, deep contemplation, and praise, the Saubhāgyahṛdayastotra presents a complete picture of the majestic and alluring nature of the all-auspicious and sublime goddess, Tripurasundarī.
Tripurā Tallikā is excited to offer our readership this rare and important work from the early Śrīvidyā tradition translated by Dr. Ben Williams, along with an introduction to Śivānanda and annotated notes to each verse by Brian Campbell. Along with this we are pleased to offer an original musical composition by Sheela Bringi of the Saubhāgyahṛdayastotra available to listen and chant along with below.
We sincerely hope practitioners and devotees find this work useful for their practice and, true to Śivānanda’s aspiration in verse fourteen, devotees will start to recite this hymn at the culmination of their ritual worship of Tripurasundarī.
