Cidvilāsastava: Verse Twenty-one

In the twenty-first verse of his Cidvilāsastava (‘Hymn to the Play of Consciousness’), Amṛtānanda teaches about the deeper meaning of paÃącopacāra pÅĢjā (five-item worship) as follows:

ā¤Ēā¤žāĨā¤šā¤§āĨˆā¤ĩ ā¤¯ā¤Ļā¤ŋā¤Ļā¤‚ ā¤ĒāĨā¤°ā¤Ēā¤žāĨā¤šā¤ŋā¤¤ā¤‚ ā¤Ēā¤žāĨā¤šā¤§ā¤žā¤¨āĨā¤­ā¤ĩā¤ļā¤žā¤ļāĨā¤ĩā¤¤āĨ‹ā¤Ļā¤¯ā¤ŽāĨ āĨ¤
ā¤¤ā¤¤āĨā¤¸āĨā¤¸ā¤‚ā¤šā¤°ā¤Ŗā¤ŽāĨŒā¤Ēā¤šā¤žā¤°ā¤ŋā¤•ā¤‚ ā¤•ā¤°āĨā¤Ž ā¤¨ā¤ŋā¤°āĨā¤Žā¤˛ā¤¨ā¤ŋā¤œā¤žā¤¤āĨā¤Žā¤¸ā¤‚ā¤ĩā¤ŋā¤Ļā¤ŋ āĨĨ āĨ¨āĨ§ āĨĨ

paÃącadhaiva yad idaᚃ prapaÃącitaᚃ paÃącadhānubhavaśāśvatodayam |
tatsusaṃharaṇam aupacārikaṃ karma nirmalanijātmasaṃvidi || 21 ||

“This world, unfolding in a five-fold process, is the constant arising of the five [sensory] experiences. The auspicious reabsorption of that world of experience into pure, innate consciousness of the Self [here constitutes] the [five] services of ritual worship.” (translation by Ben Williams)
