In the twentieth verse of his CidvilÄsastava (‘Hymn to the Play of Consciousness’), AmáštÄnanda teaches a profound meditation on the true meaning of invoking the deity (ÄvÄhana) as follows:
ā¤ā¤¨āĨā¤¤ā¤°ā¤¸āĨā¤¯ ā¤¨ā¤ŋā¤ā¤¸ā¤ā¤ĩā¤ŋā¤Ļā¤žā¤¤āĨā¤Žā¤¨āĨ ā¤Žā¤žā¤¤āĨā¤°ā¤āĨā¤ˇā¤ā¤°ā¤Ŗā¤žā¤§āĨā¤ĩā¤¨ā¤ž ā¤Ŧā¤šā¤ŋā¤ āĨ¤

Äntarasya nijasaášvidÄtmano mÄtur akášŖakaraášÄdhvanÄ bahiá¸Ĩ |
meyasaášvidi samarpaášaáš tad ÄvÄhanaáš samarasatvalakášŖaášam || 20 ||
“Casting outwardly the perceiverâthe inner nature of consciousnessâinto object-awareness through the pathway of perception is the [true] ritual of summoning (ÄvÄhana) of the deity. That [invocation of the deity] is [thus] identified as a [non-dual] fusion.” (translation by Ben Williams)
