Dr. Mark Dyczkowski (1951-2025)

Published: February 2, 2025

It is with immeasurable sadness that we recently learned of Dr. Mark Dyczkowski’s (1951-2025) passing away on Vasant Pañcami in Varanasi.

Markji, as we affectionately called him, was a well-wisher to our work and was gracious enough to give members of Tripurā Tallikā private lessons on the history of Śrīvidyā over the last years. His departure is an irreplaceable loss to the international community of scholars and practitioners of tantric Śaivism. His published works, spanning nearly fifty years, explored the rich history of Śaivism and Kaula tantra, often uncovering groundbreaking insights into Śrīvidyā as well. His legacy lives on through the profound body of work he produced and the lessons he taught us that were nothing short of instrumental in our own budding understanding of the early history of Śrīvidyā and Kaula tantra.

Tripurā Tallikā will forever remember Markji as a guiding light to our work, our well-wisher, and remain incredibly grateful for all of the blessings, knowledge, and contributions he shared so openly with us—with no thought of monetary compensation, or what we could possibly do for him.

We pray Markji has entered into the ultimate state of reality, the dynamism of consciousness, with the blessings of his Guruji Swami Lakshmanjoo of Kashmir.
