In his opening verse of the Cidvilāsastava (‘Hymn to the Play of Consciousness’), Amṛtānanda teaches a deep contemplation on the true form of the Gurupādukā as consisting of the complete union of Śiva (as prakāśa) and the Devī (as vimarśa), known as Paraśiva.

“The form of Śiva as innate luminosity is unique; the embodiment of His self-awareness is also unique. The fusion of the pair is the true form of the divine sandals of the Guru who is one with Paraśiva.” (translation by Ben Williams)
